FAQs

K
L
I've never shot a bow before — can I still come in?
Absolutely. We love introducing new people to the sport. Our staff will walk you through the basics before you step up to the line, and we offer lessons if you want a more structured introduction. No experience necessary, just bring your enthusiasm.
K
L
Do I need my own bow to shoot at your range?
Nope! We have rental bows available for compound, traditional, and technical styles. Just show up and we'll get you set up with everything you need.
K
L
What age can kids start archery?
We welcome youth shooters of all ages on our range. In general, kids around 8 and up tend to have the strength and focus to get the most out of it, but every kid is different. Give us a call and we can help you figure out if your child is ready.
K
L
Do you offer archery lessons?
Yes! We offer one-on-one technical lessons for all ages and ability levels. A one-hour lesson runs $30 and covers everything from stance and grip to aiming and release. It's a great way to build good habits from the start — or break some bad ones you've picked up along the way.
K
L
How long does it take to learn the basics of archery?
Most people are hitting the target consistently within their first session. Archery has a satisfying learning curve — you'll see real improvement quickly, which is a big part of why people get hooked. Becoming truly proficient takes more time and practice, but the basics are accessible to almost anyone.
K
L
How many lanes does your indoor range have?
We have eight lanes, all set at 20 yards. Whether you're practicing solo or bringing the whole family, there's almost always room to shoot.
K
L
How far are the targets?
Our range is set at 20 yards, which is the standard distance for indoor archery practice and competition. It's close enough to be approachable for beginners and technical enough to keep experienced shooters challenged.
K
L
Do I need to make a reservation to use the range?
No reservation needed, just walk in during store hours and we'll get you set up. During busy periods (especially around the start of hunting season) it can get lively, so if you're bringing a large group, a quick call ahead is always appreciated.
K
L
What are the range fees?
Lane fees include one target and run $8 for adults and $4 for youth 16 and under. Additional targets are $1 each. Bow rentals start at $20 for a traditional bow and $30 for compound or technical styles.
K
L
Is the range open year-round?
Yes, our indoor range is open year-round during regular store hours. It's a great option on cold or rainy days when outdoor shooting isn't practical — and a perfect way to stay sharp during the off-season.
K
L
What bow brands do you carry?
We carry bows from Hoyt, Mathews, and PSE — three of the most respected names in the industry. Between them, we cover everything from entry-level setups to high-performance competition and hunting bows. You're welcome to shoot any of them on our range before
making a decision.
K
L
Can I try a bow before I buy it?
Yes, and we encourage it. Our range is right here in the shop, so you can shoot any bow we carry before you commit. Buying a bow without shooting it first is like buying boots without trying them on — we won't let you do that to yourself.
K
L
Do you do bow tuning and repairs?
Yes!! we're a full-service bow shop. Our head bowtech Sally Delange is a two-time national archery champion and one of the best in the business. She won't let a bow leave the shop until it shoots as well as it was built to shoot. Services include full bow tunes, arrow rest tuning, string servicing, loop and tie-ins, and more.
K
L
How long does a bow tune take?
It depends on what your bow needs. A standard tune typically takes a day or two, though during peak hunting season (late summer/early fall) turnaround can be longer. Call us ahead of time if you're on a deadline and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
K
L
Can you build custom arrows?
Yes. We offer match and Hooter Shooter arrow tuning, spine testing, and reflectching in both vanes and feathers. Whether you need a dozen competition arrows or a handful of hunting shafts built to spec, we can sort you out.
K
L
Do you carry crossbows?
We do not. Crossbows are too powerful to be shot at our archery range, our staff can recommend ranges that do allow crossbows if you need help locating a range
K
L
Do you sell hunting licenses?
Yes! You can purchase your Colorado hunting license right here in the shop. It's one less errand before your trip into the field. Please ensure you bring a copy of your hunters ed card and valid ID to purchase hunting licenses.
K
L
Do you carry broadheads and hunting-specific gear?
Absolutely. We stock broadheads, quivers, bow cases, calls, packs, and maps for hunting in the San Juan National Forest and surrounding areas. If you're heading out after elk or deer in southwest Colorado, we can get you dialed in.
K
L
What's the best bow setup for elk hunting in Colorado?
Great question, and honestly the answer depends on your draw length, draw weight, and hunting style. What we can tell you is that for elk in Colorado's backcountry, you want a setup you're confident shooting out to at least 40 yards under pressure. Come in and talk to our bowtechs — we'll help you find the right bow, draw weight, and arrow combination for your specific situation. No generic advice here.
K
L
Do you have camo and blaze orange clothing?
Yes — we carry camo and blaze orange clothing for both archery and rifle seasons. Colorado requires hunters to wear blaze orange during rifle season, so if you need to gear up before heading out, we've got you covered.
K
L
Do you have archery leagues?
We run adult archery leagues on Thursday evenings at 7pm during the winter season. It's a great way to shoot with other archers in the area, stay competitive during the off-season, and have a good time doing it. Youth leagues are also available — contact us for current scheduling.
K
L
Can kids participate in leagues?
Yes! We have youth league options in addition to our adult Thursday night league. Contact us
for current scheduling and age guidelines. We'd love to get more young archers involved.
K
L
When does the winter league start?
Our winter archery league typically kicks off in the fall once hunting season winds down. The best way to stay in the loop is to call the shop or follow us on Facebook and Instagram. We announce the schedule there as soon as dates are confirmed.
